The Double Barrel range has persisted and found fans. This new release celebrates ‘Aged Caribbean Rum Barrels’ to finish the wine after traditional French and American oak maturation for the base wine before blending.
Jacob’s Creek, Double Barrel, Shiraz/Cabernet, SEA, 2021

Charry and sweet. Plum and blackberry primary fruit with vanilla and cedar. Hints of demerara sugars and tea cake spice and caramel give a nod to the rum barrels. The nose closes with a hard charcoal boldness. There’s an inherent heat that sits across the top of medium juicy red/black fruit that acts as a cloak. Simple tail with clacking, drying tannin. Serve with a just-off-the-hot plate coffee rubbed rump steak.
