St Hugo Shiraz 2021

While it seems most of my recent St Hugo reviews have been on the collab with Dan Ricciardo, the quality originals have been a little ignored. Let’s remedy that. This release matured in French oak (53% new) for 18 months.

St Hugo Shiraz 2021

Cool and classic Barossa nose. Christmas cake and Colomba cake spice over plum halves, blackberry coulis, cedary oak, a little meaty depth and a touch of char. Precise and focused. Medium full with bright ruby red fruit and fine, tight tannins. Long, persistence finish with a fine flourish. Modern Barossa Shiraz done well and bound to be found cheaper.
