Yes, the title is correct: ‘Flood Blend.’ Back in October 2022, Tahbilk Estate bore the brunt of a 1 in 100 year flood, which affected the vines terribly, impacted yields for the impending (2023) harvest with waterlogged vineyards, totally destroyed other parts of their land and had a terrible effect on the Tahbilk team. The fact Jo Nash and the team have been able to produce anything at all is incredible. This blend is made of parcels of all their white grapes: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Fiano, Viognier, Roussanne, Albariño, Marsanne and Riesling.
Tahbilk, Flood Blend, Nagambie Lakes, 2023

Very pale lemon. Aromatic with yellow stone fruit, rose water, white blossoms, passion fruit seeds, chalk, raw macadamias, yellow citrus and a touch of crab apple. Juicy and fresh palate, balanced by depth and weight from the Rhone varieties. Clean and fresh finish with chalky minerality, fine spice and bright acidity. A delicious bottle of resilience.
