From the team at Fourth Wave Wines comes a new range of 3 Rosés. Here we have the “savoury and textured” entry. Riverland fruit of Sangiovese and Nebbiolo co-fermented. Technically I suppose this is a Rosa, not a Rosé (French vs Italian). But I’m just being a pedant. Made by Corey Ryan. Heavy and heavily embossed bottle and clear glass.
Paddington Lane, No.2 Savoury Rosé, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Riverland, 2023
Pale salmon colour. Meaty and savoury nose. There’s some trademark Nebbiolo tar & roses, along with red cherry fruits, but the underlying tones are iodine, pink rock salt and charcuterie. Depth and texture before a surprising amount of juicy fruit and acidity. Soft tannins grip and the finish gravelly like a Tom Waits song. Points for being different (in a good way).
