A courageous decision by then Chief Winemaker Nat Cleghorn to make a vintage declared Prosecco. Fruit source is labelled as Victoria (rather than just King Valley, but I’m sure there was plenty of that fruit in there). The Mitchelton website still has the NV listed for sale, so I’m unsure when or if this release will see the light of day.
Mitchelton, Preece, Prosecco, Cuvée, Victoria, 2023

Fine persistent and fast beading. Honeysuckle, lime sorbet, feijoa, chalk dust, green apple and sweet pear. Concentrated and tight mousse. Racy palate, fine and cutting with savoury edges heading towards tobacco leaf depth. Chalky and with a good length through the finish. A cut above most Australian Prosecco.
RRP: $22 (expected)
Alc: 11.3%
Rating: 90/100
