Aces & Arrows is a side project for the Pernod Ricard winemakers. Each maker gets to have a hands on role in the whole creative process. I recently reviewed the 2020 of this label, which was the first release at nearly 4 years old. I was then offered the most recent vintage of this label to review. Made by winemaker Tim.
Aces & Arrows, Grüner Veltliner, Adelaide Hills, 2022

Very pale straw colour. Soft and nutty oak work supports neat and lifted citrus, scattered with a little peppery spice and some hotel soap waxiness. The oak work offering a touch of phenolic grip and there’s some peppery spice with salty brine for interest before a straight laced zippy finish. Staying in the varietal lines and certainly a step up from the 2020 in the freshness stakes, yet feeling a little safe.
