Chaffey Bros Wine Co. Not Your Grandma’s Red 2022

Subtitled:  “Not Your Grandma’s Chillable Red.” Old vine Barossa Grenache and Mourvèdre. Clear glass for early consumption and a temperature sensitive label that states: “if you can read this, I’m chilled to <15º & ready to go.” As I can read that, guess it’s ready to go! Vegan friendly if that is important. Note, bottle image shows vintage year2 of 020, but nothing else has changed.

Chaffey Bros Wine Co., Not your Grandma’s Red, Barossa Valley, 2022

CBNYGCR020

Medium garnet colour with a ruby clear rim. Cool purple plum fruit, blue gravel, anise to amaro herb and spice with a signature potpourri lilt. Well put together and bright. Mid weight (beyond rosé) and with more than a hint of cheek. Just a flirt of chewy tannin to give a base to a herby, purple and red berries. Covers all bases: Enough acidity to keep it zingy when chilled and enough fruit when that coolness warms up. Fun stuff indeed.

RRP: $25
Alc: 13.5%
Rating: 91/100
