Deep ruby with bright edges. Layered and deep nose, too. Panforte, dried fig, molasses, vanilla bean paste, cocoa powder, licorice, shaved dark chocolate, hints of chai spice, plum sauce, black olive, roast pan jus and just sawn wood. Potent, rich and opulent body. Some mint and tobacco herbed edges to sweet vanilla paste oak and thick smears of savoury black fruit. Concentrated and viscous with mouth coating, boxy tannin. There’s a blueberry like brightness through the finish to give a ray of sunshine though darker clouds. One for the hedonists now, will live easily for the next 15 years.
