You may not have heard of Woodlawn, but you have probably heard of Ricky Evans the man behind the name. After finishing up at esteemed Bay Of Fires, Ricky started Two Tonne Tasmania. Inevitably he started accessing more than two tonnes of fruit. Two Tonne Tasmania still exists as a label, but Woodlawn is now the home vineyard and stable name for the quality releases. The Three Wishes vineyard was planted in 2000, just north of Hillwood on the eastern bank of the Tamar River outside of Launceston in Northern Tasmania. Fermented in a mix of new and second use 500L puncheons, it spent 11 months in barrels prior to 3 months resting on light lees in tank. Bottled under vinc and wax sealed.
Woodlawn, Three Wishes Vineyard, Chardonnay, Tasmania, 2022

Pale lemon in colour with some green highlights. Soft nougat and grapefruit flesh, some creamy leesy nuances, sage leaf, lime sorbet, gun flint, oatmeal, green table grapes and some sweet cedary oak. Medium flesh with depth of flavour and rich tones in a fuller expression. Crunchy, unmistakeable acidity still drives long and gives plenty of shape. Some oak toasty echoes through the tail before finishing with some briny, oyster shell saline, lip smacking dryness. Class.
