Tahbilk Cane Cut Marsanne 2018

Tahbilk have done more for Marsanne than any other winery in the world. This Cane Cut, sweeter style, is made by cutting the cane of the vine hold the fruit, therefore increasing the concentration of sugars and then stopping fermentation early to retain those sugars.

Tahbilk, Cane Cut, Marsanne, Nagambie, 2018

2018-cane-cut-marsanne

Caramel-gold in hue (far darker than the bottle image). Rich, complex, concentrated and luscious. Showing elements of development from the fruit and the winemaking/viticultural management. Baked pecan pie, honeysuckle cordial, lemon curd, toffee, mocha, cumquat marmalade and light toast. Still bursting with life. There’s a textural element that provides depth, too. Development has brought out the toastiness and mocha-like elements over the signature honeysuckle and preserved citrus, citrus marmalade. A steal at the price.
