The relaunched Ivyburn label from CW Wines sees some heavy packaging and big wines. From the classic 2022 Vintage comes this full bodied expression.

Ivyburn, First Minister, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2022

Deep garnet. Pepper and bluestone, ‘ink eraser,’ ferrous and bloody steel, sweet American oak influences with vanilla and char, musk, formic acid (crushed ant), rich blackcurrant (to almost pastille) and choc covered raspberries. Bold and unforgiving. Some potent intensity with a wall of flavour driving through. Flavour wise there’s red to black berries but also a malty, biscuity crumble before drying and clacking tannins take over through a medium finish with some meaty, umami echoes.
