The relaunched Ivyburn label from CW Wines sees some heavy packaging and big wines. The name comes from this description from the winery: “Built in 1844, the first chapel in McLaren Vale was erected on Aldersey St. Revered Isaac Prior was the inaugural minister, conducting regular services in the district. This wine pays tribute to the first minister for bringing the community together; with Ivyburn being the name of his home.” The Aldersey is 2nd top in the range for Ivyburn.
Ivyburn, Aldersey, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2021

Deep garnet. The nose starts the story with fruit cake, young blackberries, kirsch, raspberry fruit, raspberry compote, stony roads, exotic woody spice, cedar and vanilla. Full bodied with drying, loose knit tannin shaping out into a flattish tail before a sharp and intense lift. Firm and serious with a charry meatiness. One for those who enjoy the bigger shaped styles.
