While Heggies Riesling gets the limelight, the Chardonnay wines are worthy. The flagship of the the Heggies range. Fruit from a single block on the high elevation Heggies Vineyard (the 1992 planted Block “i”). Made from Bernard Clones 76, 95 and 96. Wild fermented in oak. 11 Months maturation: 58% matured in French oak barriques (28% new, the rest one year and older) and the remaining 42% matured in ceramic wine eggs. Vegan friendly. Crafted by Marc Van Halderen.

Pale yellow with green highlights. Attractive and floral, with nutty wild ferment and creamy oak nuances. Plenty of nougat and white stone fruit. Flecks of quartz and flint strike with yellow grapefruit citrus. Tighter than the nose suggests, fine linear structure with the well-judged creamy and toasty oak providing an easy swaddling cloth to the stone fruit and grapefruit flesh. Clean and bright finish with a good length.
