Gundog blend fruit from across the Canberra region for this quality Shiraz with contrasting fruit coming off the Wallaroo vineyard in Hall, just out of Canberra (darker fruit), and the Long Rail Gully vineyard in Murrumbateman providing spice with 15-20% whole bunches going into the ferment.
Gundog Estate, Marksman’s Shiraz, Canberra, 2023
Shiny dark and maraschino cherries, with sweet Belgian choc, beetroot flesh, purple ‘wine gums,’ hibiscus blossom and a touch meaty depth. Tight and spiced. Elegant frame unencumbered by corpulence with a pure dark, earthy core. Tannins give a little tacky chew under those fine lines. Fresh and clean through the long tail with cool climate lift.
