Made by Jean-Claude Mas for Domaines Paul Mas (winner of the 2024 Mundus Vini Best Producer in France award). Fruit comes from ‘HVE 3‘ vineyards. Winemaking sees stainless steel fermentation and 6 weeks on fine lees with regular stirring. Attractively bottled with bevelled/jewelled appearance and under a glass stopper. Available here in Australia via Dan Murphy’s.
Jardin d’Arômes, Pinot Gris, IGP Pays d’Oc, 2023
Carries a touch of onion skin to the colour. A nose of fresh cut brown pear, honeysuckle, white flowers, sourdough bread, limey citrus, white stone fruit and sweet nutty spice. Easy palate with the just-savoury spice and a little weight that a good Pinot Gris holds. Fruit profile contrasts between the not-quite ripe white stone fruit and lingering pear. Acidity just balances the fruit for a crisp finish. Balanced and clean.
