Flametree Wines, SRS Wallcliffe, Chardonnay, Margaret River, 2023
Just pale straw/lemon hue. Complex and multi-faceted: Flinty struck match leads to hints of barley sugar, mature grapefruit skin and pith, soft blonde wood with an underscore of brine, grilled peach, white tea, and crunchy raw and toasted nuts. The palate offering layers of fruit and winemaking interplay. Ginger and oak spice stud creamier fruit feels all wrapped in an umami shroud. Intensity and drive with understated power. Exceptional.
