Reschke Empyrean Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

‘Empyrean is Latin for the highest sphere in which the purist elements of life exist’ Bottled under cork (not DIAM). New French oak for MLF and maturation. Flagship for Reschke.

Reschke, Empyrean, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, 2018

Dusty, concentrated black currant, blackberry conserve, secondary soy and leathery tones, spearmint, boysenberry ice cream, moss, roasted coffee beans, grilled salted padron peppers, licorice bullets and sweet oak. Fleshy and full. Red to black fruit profile. There’s a big frame, furnished with a velvet carpet of ripe, chewy tannins and still with some juicy acidity. There’s a tickle of oaky char and espresso coffee bitterness through the close. As it opens in the glass, the length is evident and a testament to the style. Drink now to 10 years (if it was under screw cap I’d say 20…).
