The Adelaide Hills provide old vine fruit for the Sieger Frederick Pinot Noir. It seems Sieger are otherwise home at Greenock Estate in the Barossa.
Sieger, Frederick, Pinot Noir, Adelaide Hills, 2024
Medium garnet with bruise purple edges. Deep cherry juice and cola, plump red fruit, suggestions of orange zest, milk chocolate button oak, ginger beer, soft anise, thyme leaves and white pepper. Full bodied up front with a façade of cherry and red currant fruit that feels fleshy like a soft dry red and missing a little ‘pinosity.’ Savoury herbs and a chunky mat of velvety tannins. A little citrus echo through a short-ish finish. There’s good flavour, but unsure of the value.
