De Bortoli, One Line, Tempranillo, Rutherglen, 2024
Medium garnet to bruise purple. Dark cherry, black pastille, soft licorice, a touch of tobacco and crushed kitchen herbs. a little vanilla tipped cigarillo and a touch of simmering sugo. Easy and flowing. A gentle brush of tannin underpins a neatly balanced, dark berried, herbally shrouded mid weight wine. There’s no great length, but there’s decent balance and plenty of varietal flavour, if emboldened by the antipodean sun.
