I think this is the 2nd release after the powerful inaugural edition of the 2021(which was exceptional). Clear glass with fine etching, bottled under crown seal. Considering the vintage and the current date, I don’t believe the Longview team have employed the same winemaking techniques and have produced a fresher, more immediate cuvee. Only available at Longview Cellar Door and via their website.
Longview, Fortuna, Sparkling Rosato, Nebbiolo, Adelaide Hills, 2024
Pale dusky orange hue. Fast, hyperfine beading. Approachable aromas: musk stick, cherry Danish, pink lady apple and florals, orange cream before Nebbiolo raises its head with a dusty, ferrous (near blood), and candied citrus peel undertone. Dry, with a steely throughput to the tail. While there’s no doubt this is an enjoyable drink for sunshine or perhaps with pork belly bites, I feel it’s a backward step and a touch one dimensional and missing the complexity of the previous release.
