From the Batten Vineyard , 100% barrel fermented in French oak (26% new) with 6 months maturation on full lees with regular stirring (but no malolactic ferment). Alex MacClelland is the winemaker.

Bethany, Blue Quarry, Chardonnay, Eden Valley, 2023

Medium lemon hue. Almond biscotti, lemon zest, white flowers, just toasty oak, lemon friand, nutmeg, white stone fruit and pineapple core. Fuller expression: the solids influence along with the oak provide a breadth while the fruit veers into that pineapple and limey citrus spectrum. The oak gives spice while there’s some juiciness and tightness through the sharp tail. While tasty, the balance of ripe fruit to acid isn’t quite there for higher points.
