The longstanding custodians of Bethany, the Schrapel family are now involved in management and guidance. Alex MacClelland is the winemaker. This sees up to 50% whole bunches in the blending parcels with around 15% in the final blend.
Bethany, First Village, Grenache, Barossa Valley, 2023
Medium garnet hue. Brown paper, dried kitchen herbs, red currant, leather glove, tar, warm strawberry, tobacco, brown sugar, spent fruit tea leaves and baked earth. Dry and savoury. Tannins are fine and toothsome, leading to a lean, yet full expression. Carries some of the crystalline red currant fruit with a narrow tail. Serve up with your charred crust woodfired pizza carrying plenty of protein.
