Gundog Estate Hilltops Shiraz No.2 2024

This sibling to No.1 usually shows some more elegant characteristics. Hilltops Shiraz, showcasing the diversity of the region. Fruit comes from Roger Clark’s Boorowa vineyard with a cool microclimate. A jump in the ABV from last year to this.
Note: Bottle image has vintage 2021, but naught has changed save for the year stamp.

Gundog Estate, Hilltops Shiraz No.2, Hilltops, 2024

Dusty and spiced nose. There’s plenty of game meat and pan jus, generous dark berry fruit, dark chocolate, coffee grounds, violets, turned brown earth and woody spice. The flesh carries over to the palate. Some intensity with surprising bite, cutting through the plushness. Lingering spice and a little granite. Ultimately this is a comforting, cool weather, big glass kinda wine best consumed in the first couple of years to indulge in the dark berry freshness.
