Oops, this one fell through the reviewing cracks and the 2025 has just been released. Should still be quite a bit of this around in retail land. There’s a little splash in Viognier here that shows its hand. Winemaker is Heather Fraser
La Maschera, Pinot Grigio, Limestone Coast, 2024
Just a touch of bronzing colour, otherwise pale with a green highlight. A touch of French oak and lees maturation provide some nutty and savoury, smoked meats bass notes to pear juice, star jasmine flower, lemon dishwashing liquid, lime zest, fennel frond, apricot hull, wax paper and honeycomb. Fuller weighted palate with density and slippery flesh. Bitter spice and red apple crunch with a waxy potency. Not sure how many Pinot Grigio and Viognier blends there are out there, but it works.
