Yalumba, Samuel’s Collection, Shiraz, Barossa, 2024
Medium garnet in hue. Easter egg chocolate, red currant and raspberry in that spectrum, firmed up with blackberry and 5 Spice. Oak is sweet, but not dominating. Fleshy and fruity. There’s good support and spice from the oak, with white pepper piquancy from the fruit. Tannins are tight, ripe and firm, allowing for ready consumption. Lingering dark yeasty, savoury elements provide balance. Will be found cheaper, top value.
