I’d not heard of Mount Riley prior to seeing this SB (they also sent a Pinot Gris and a Pinot Noir to be reviewed), but a little bit of research unearths a family company keen to produce quality wines.
Mount Riley Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough 2015
Sourced from Marlborough sub districts: 30% Awatere Valley, 70% Wairau Valley. Ashen, leafy, capsicum, gooseberry and some almost confected banana tropical esters and blackberry jam. Light tropical fruits tempered by those herbaceous notes and Sauvignon’s black fruit smear. Delicate and refined palate finishing crisp, clean and pleasant. Lovely expression of Marlborough.
RRP: $18
Alc: 12.5%
