Ahhh Verdelho. The often mocked white grape of the Hunter Valley: At the Huinter Valley Wine Show, the Trophy for the best Verdelho is better know as the “Tiara Award.”

Tropical fruit, mashed banana and pecan pie. “Dexal” (old antacid powdered drink) spritz.  A little forward and ripe on the palate with some weight: almost viognier fleshiness. Spice and richness blends with tropical fruits of guava, green papaya and all backed with that weight and sweet brown spice. A serious take on this oft mocked variety.
