This was an obvious quality cut above many other 2014 Shiraz tasted in a blind round up.
Montalto Estate, Shiraz, Mornington Peninsula 2014
Sandy, earthy nose, white pepper, light mulberry, iodine, blackcurrant , black cherry and woody spice. Feels lighter in the body than the alc suggests, beguiling with the woody, oriental spice dominating before rich plum dusted with white pepper follows through. Fine mesh tannins cast their net once the dark meaty fruit has given up the first calls. Elegant, classy and unique.
RRP: $50
Alc: 14.1%
