Toolangi, Estate Chardonnay, Yarra Valley 2015
11 months French oak. No holds barred. Distinct fig and balsa wood. Light brown spice over creme anglaise. A little bit of tutti-frutti/fruit salad sweetness and brown pear juice. Hello Sailor. Full, lustrous and rich fruit mouth feel upfront. Slides in slightly sweetly, but with proper chardonnay oak (grapes can definitely handle the oak work), even though the alcohol is high, it doesn’t head to being sunshine pine/caramelisation. The finish is balanced, sharp , focused and never obtuse. Exceptionally deft hand of wine-making with quality fruit. Double hander to the chest.
