Johnno Harris makes good wine. Takes great pictures and puts them on Instagram too.
Mitchell Harris, Mataro, Pyrenees 2013
Apparently Mataro is rare in the Pyrenees. Should be more of it if it’s made like this. Partial wild ferment and 10% whole bunches. 15 months in French oak. Nose of light leather, Chambord, toffee apple soaps and lipstick. Stalky tannins make this youthfully astringent, before bitter chocolate red fruit and a tang of fresh bouquet garni herbs. Acidity is on the plus side, but still this wine is sluggable. Needs a light meat dish (think veal) and we’re in happyland. Take to dinner with friends. Impress said friends.
RRP: $30
Alc: 13.8%
