Katnook Estate Founders Block Shiraz, Coonawarra, 2015

Cabernet may be king in Coonawarra, but Shiraz is certainly an elegant prince. Short maturation time in older French and American oak sees this almost as a joven, drink now style. Ash, pepper, licorice, red berries and vanilla essence all on a fairly elegant, fruit forward palate. Soft and spongy front, with a burnt orange citrus acidity and fine tannins to finish. Pleasant drinking to match with bbq beef short rib in bourbon marinade.
