Central Otago Pinot Noir for me tends to have sinewy tannins and whilst this is muscular, the alcohol fills out the body well.
Amisfield Pinot Noir, Central Otago 2014
10% whole bunch and 23% new French oak. Heady nose: white pepper, brown spice, thyme, black cherry and drinking chocolate. Deep charred plum and cherry flavours, intense dark dark chocolate and finishing with a rosewater kiss. It’s seductive, it’s brooding, it’s rippling. The tannins latch on, like a piece of armour. Serious stuff.
RRP: $50
Alc: 14%
