The Hoddles Creek team led by Franco D’Anna consistently wines that punch well above their weight and should probably be sold at twice the price. Oh well, definitely a buyer’s market. 25% Whole bunch ferment.
Hoddles Creek Estate, 1er Yarra Valley, Pinot Noir, 2015
Attractive serious pinot nose: Smoky, lighty charred charcuterie, deep rose flower, cherries and blue plums. Simply delicious to drink. The body shows light and shade with dark cherry fruit before seemingly turning on itself and showing only structure….but oh, what a structure. Tannins persistent, but not intrusive. If there’s any criticism it’s that the youthful oak cloaks some of the delicate fruit but truly, I’m looking hard for fault in this case. Like the Chardonnay, this is exceptional value.
RRP: $45
Alc: 13.2%
