Franco D’Anna is one of the Princes of the Yarra Valley when it comes to Chardonnay. His expert ways with the fruit is highlighted not only from the wines of Hoddles, but for those such as Toolangi whom he treats with no less respect or attention. The label is firmly a tongue in cheek nod towards Burgundy styling.
Hoddles Creek Estate, 1er Yarra Valley, Chardonnay, 2015
Light smoked creme anglaise, sandalwood, meringue shell sulfides, oatmeal biscuit and delicate nectarine stone fruit. Textural plus and taut, this hits the sultry button firmly with Montrachet like balance between oak and fruit. Savoury, yet bright and alive, Franco has again crafted an elegant example that argues loudly to be placed among the top chardonnays of the Yarra.
