Berton Vineyards Winemaker’s Reserve “The Black” Shiraz 2015

Berton have a released “The Black” Shiraz previously. I wasn’t particularly enamoured with it. This is a slight change in direction for the label, sourcing fruit from Padthaway (in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia),  rather than all over the South Eastern corner of Australia but at the end of the day, this is one for the big red lovers that has seen some bling awarded by The Drinks Business Global Syrah Masters Awards 2016

Berton Vineyards, Winemaker’s Reserve “The Black” Shiraz, Padthaway, 2015

Intersting first note of pine cones, plums, cherries before a little bit of meaty savoury stink and a black currant undertone. Sweet, yet focused core of dark plum fruit wrapped up in a big warming mocha oak blankie. Perfect for those cold nights inland with a steaming bowl of casserole.

RRP: $14

Alc: 14.5%
