d’Arenberg, The Footbolt Shiraz, McLaren Vale 2014
Good smells: heady and lovely mineral tang to warm plum slices, dried herbs, violets, fennel bulb and a rich oak signature. Densely darkly fruited palate with a good bluestone, tarry grip and lingering plums and violets . Cruises along in 4th gear with ease finishing with firm, flinty tannins. Plenty to like and too easy to share the bottle with a big charry plate of lamb forequarter chops.
RRP: $18
Alc: 14.6%
