As I was looking through my notes, I realised this isn’t my first Claymore wine on the blog. I’ve had the Superstition riesling and thoroughly enjoyed it. Claymore have an interesting naming convention with wines labeled after classic rock songs. They’re also the exclusive partner to Liverpool FC in Australia and produce another range for that partnership. The London Calling is their first Cabernet/Malbec blend, a good Clare Valley traditional blend.
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Engines stop running, the wheat is growin’ thin
A nuclear era, but I have no fear
‘Cause London is drowning, and I, I live by the river

Claymore Wines, London Calling, Cabernet Malbec, Clare Valley, 2015
Ripe and generous nose with blackberry, cassis, plums, pencils, bresaola, and a hint of mint. The palate follows the nose with that dark fruited heart and balanced with a thoroughly enjoyable Cabernet sinewy tannin structure and the Malbec gives a plummy, spicy rustic edge that pushes this beyond your average 4/4 time everyday quaffer at a value price. Great drinking.
RRP: $20
