Riversdale Estate Syrah 2016

15 years ago, you could count the number of shiraz/syrah prodcuers in Tasmania on one hand. Now you’d need to take off your shoes and socks. This “nouveau” style grabbed a gold medal at the 2016 Tasmanian Wine Show, chaired by Huon Hooke.

Riversdale Estate, Syrah, Coal River Valley 2016

Highly perfumed aromas of white pepper, strawberry, cherry and some wet eucalytpus native forest. Heart of  ripe cherry with layers of white pepper, rose petal, dried strawberry and juicy ripe, light tannins. Forget ageing, this is a beautiful drink now style that shows Tasmania is certainly on the right path with Shiraz.
