This little baby picked up several trophies in 2016 at the New South Wales Wine Awards: Trophy for the Best Young Shiraz, then Best Dry Red Wine and then the NSW Wine of the Year. Not bad for a $20 wine.
Windowrie, The Mill, Shiraz, Central Ranges, NSW, 2015
There’s a lot to like about this plump, spiced little number. A curvaceous plummy little minx with fraternal oak, fresh picked blackberries and raspberries with sprinkles of white pepper. There’s a ferrous quality that rings a small bell towards the end, but it’s eminently drinkable, varietal and bloody good value. It may last in the cellar, but there’s no point.
RRP: $20
Alc: 14.5%
