Whole bunch pressed, barrel ferment, 10 months in barrel before bottling. Made by Patrick Eckel and Mark Bretherton.
Over The Way, Rice’s Vineyard, Chardonnay, Grampians, 2016
Generosity on the palate yet remaining taut when it counts. Nectarine stonefruit and a quartzy mineral rockiness. There’s soft citrus, some custard apple with a hint of pastry, but this just smells right with a suggestion of soft eggy sulfides. Biscuity crisp on the finish with the right amount of oak spice. Good drinking and even better value.
