I’m liking the rieslings coming in from 2017. Annie’s Lane often get over looked as it seems to be a bit of “Corolla” brand, but for the value, it is tough to beat. Winemaker is Alex MacKenzie.
Annie’s Lane, Riesling, Clare Valley, 2017
Lime, cumquat skin, baby powder, peppery greens…all the fresh things. Fresh on the palate too. Minerally texture, fine lime, mandarin, ready acidity and a couple of grams’ residual sugar just to smooth put the edges. Matched a treat with thai spiced (coconut, lemongrass, touch of chilli) pork. Absolute no brainer for a pub/bistro wine list choice or BYO option.
