Normally a dash of Semillon into this kind of blend seems to take the edge of any overt grassiness that a straight Sauv Blanc may have. But in this case, we see 95% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc. The SB giving a slightly fruity underscore to the zesty, driving Semillon.
Shingleback, Haycutters, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, McLaren Vale, 2017
Candied almond mixing with tropical melon notes, white floral blossom, lime rind and lemon biscuit. Light and a touch sweaty on the palate with a metallic hue clanging against the serving tray of the tropical fruit, offset with green pea shoots and tart, limey acidity. Finishes with a chalky, briny tang. Summertime fresh cooked fish and chips on the beachside and this served chilled.
