According to De Bortoli, this is their version of a French ‘country wine’ and a dash of Mourvedre adds ‘rusticity.’
De Bortoli, Villages, Shiraz, Grenache, Heathcote, 2016
Jumps out the glass with dank herby funk, off set with rich dark red fruits, purple flowers, blood orange, chocolate and toasted spices. Mouth filling with plentiful, fine tannins. There’s fleshy olives, raspberries and plums all neatly kept together with a toothsome structure. Grab a fresh loaf of bread, a slice of cheese and a some ham to match with this fantastic food wine.
