Sourced from the Shankley Vineyard in Watervale. Winemaker is Marnie Roberts. Very superstitious, nothin’ more to say.
Claymore Wines, Superstition, Reserve Riesling, Clare Valley, 2016
Intriguing and full nose, yet still with fruit restraint. Limes of all sorts: native, Tahitian and even some kaffir leaf with baby powder and a smooth nougat roundness. Plenty of complexity through the palate: fruit layers, textural layers, acid lines. Not a shy, reticent early release riesling wallflower: this carries itself with spiced apple fruit strength and power right from the outset, yet still with varietal minerality. Acid lines are taut throughout, indicating this will march on well for many years. One for the fans of bigger rieslings.
