This wine was part of a mixed dozen I ordered through Naked Wines (just to see what all the fuss was about). Made by Nigel Ludlow of Evoi Wines
Art by Evoi, Reserve, Chardonnay, Margaret River, 2016
Wilyabrup sub region. Mendoza clone. French oak and stainless steel maturation. Sulfides and oak assault the nasal passage before tropical fruit, vanilla cream, exhausted match heads and mashed-in-your-hand-or-face peach stonefruit. Overripe and full with plenty of peach and potent jersey caramel. There’s a steely line before closing with a sour heat. A bigger style that doesn’t seem to be executed well, which is a shame as the Evoi wine stable is usually very consistent.
