Vin Vale by Shingleback, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2015
Inky, dark cherry under brighter raspberry, blackberry and blueberry. Sweet toasty oak influence with espies of white pepper. A melange of super smooth berries. Easy drinking with little tannin to trouble the saliva glands. Generous and just pulls short of being a fruit bomb, garnering a little extra in the scores for that.
RRP: $15
Alc: 14%
Rating: 16.5/20
Vin Vale by Shingleback, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2016
New packaging. A touch more bold. Carries the theme from the 2015 with polished soft black fruits, pencil eraser, cherries and white pepper. Super slick palate with a little more tannin than the 2015, giving some respite from the smooth blackberry, dark raspberry and sweet vanilla, mocha oak. Finishes up a touch short with some bitter, chary influences. Perfectly serviceable with some blackened lamb forequarter chops.
RRP: $15
Alc: 14%
Rating: 15/20
