Run Free by Singlefile Wines Riesling 2017

The Run Free range by Singlefile are meant to be “deliciously accessible Western Australian expressions that are fruit driven, full of personality and make ideal food matches.” That reads as a ‘second label’ however this is priced at the same dollars as the Singlefile Riesling. Not a huge amount of difference in winemaking according to the tech sheets, but this carries slightly higher residual sugar, which to me results in a slightly more forward palate.

Run Free by Singlefile, Riesling, Great Southern, 2017

More pronoucned nose than the regular riesling with lifted apple aromatics, soda bread, green tea leaves and lime flesh. A sorbet like texture with crunchy, refreshing green apple and just pressed lime juice. Fruit driven nature gives the impression of a sweeter body than it actually carries: the linear minerality keeps things tight. Quality, but the Singlefile regular just pips this for mine.

RRP: $25
Alc: 12.1%
Rating: 17.5/20
