Apparently the name Coulthard is in recognition of the Willson’s ancestors who arrived in South Australia from England in 1836 on board HMS Buffalo.
Bremerton, Coulthard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Langhorne Creek, 2015
Rugged smells of varietal blackberry and cassis, tempered by salty black olive and what I can only describe as purple velvet. Tightly trimmed in on the palate: its focus is smooth black fruit before staying neat with lengths of fine tannin. An enjoyable savoury expression which hasn’t had the edges smoothed by too much oak or polish.
RRP: $22
Alc: 14.5%
Rating: 17/20
