One of the many labels in the d’Arry stable, this is the mid tier of the 4 straight Grenache, hero of the Vale.
d’Arenberg, The Derelict Vineyard, Grenache, McLaren Vale, 2013
A little darker than most from the region: Perfume of bike tyre, blueberry, cherry, raspberry, chalk and sweet but not sickly chocolaty oak. Lovely choc-nut flavours and mineral veins course through that dark plump fruit. There’s sandy tannins well supported by taut acidity. Still so very youthful and fresh. Plenty of yum factor.
