Montalto, Merricks Block, Pinot Noir, Mornington Peninsula, 2015
mv6 clone. Earthy, smoky pickled cherry, baked clove-studded ham and autumnal leaf matter. The wine carries a richness: demerara crystal edge sweetness with mocha oak. Broad and spice driven, kisses of rosewater and sappy cherry. Almost a waxy feel with distinct char and youthful acidity making things bright at the rims. Finishing with a roast orange high citrus character and a grilled nut savoury undertone. A contemplative wine.
